This is an old look at Chinese orphanages. It was a documentary that shook the west up to the need for adoption in China. I hope many of the SWI's have improved greatly since this was filmed. Still, most of the orphanages in China are not open to International adoption. When we adopt from China, the orphanage gets a standard fee of $3000. This may not sound like much, but it does help improve the conditions for the kids that remain in the orphanage. If a SWI does not have this money, who knows how poor the conditions really are. This is why organizations like half the sky, LWB are so important.
